Eco Hive Foundation is a Section 8 non-profit working at the intersection of art, ecology, and community. Since 2019, we have collaborated with artists and grassroots communities through workshops, participatory research, creative projects, and community-led livelihood initiatives to strengthen local knowledge, restore relationships with nature, and support dignified, sustainable futures.

Harvests
With a core focus on agroecology and biodiversity based livelihoods, Ecohive works with women in rural West Bengal, particularly in Jogeshganj, Sithiliya, in the Sundarbans and Bashirhat, to promote farm to table products that are handcrafted with care.
Weaves
We work with weavers and tailors in Basirhat to transform handloom gamcha into sarees as well as contemporary products, exploring new possibilities for culturally rooted craft and design.
Narratives
We produce citizen-led audit reports on water bodies, combining research, fieldwork and community knowledge to create accessible records of these changing landscapes.

Our Programmes
Jalrangi 25
A three-day immersive climate action journey in the Sundarbans that brought together young people to learn from landscapes, communities, and one another. Through experiential learning, reflective dialogue, and participation in the Jalphoring Children’s Festival, the programme explored themes of climate resilience, coexistence, and our shared relationship with the natural world.
Cat-Birale
Cat-Birale began with a simple question: What is it about cats that makes them impossible to control? From there, the evening unfolded into stories of women, witches, forests, goddesses, and acts of quiet resistance. Through art, movement, rituals, and shared conversations, we explored the shifting histories of bodies and beings that have been called powerful, dangerous, sacred, and untamed.

In the Fields of Rice began with a simple thought: perhaps rice was our first currency. Before coins and paper notes, there was a grain exchanged through labour, care, grief, and celebration. Across cultures, rice has fed bodies, accompanied the dead, marked transitions, and quietly witnessed the making of civilizations.
Through songs, performances, conversations, and shared experiences, we spent an evening following the journey of rice—from sacred offering to regulated commodity. In doing so, we found that rice continues to hold something that money cannot: memory, belonging, and the enduring relationship between people and the land.
